Advanced Turbo Systems is pleased to announce the
availability of a free flowing 3 inch exhaust system for both the Ford 7.3
liter and 6.5 liter factory turbo diesels. The Ford application includes a
complete exhaust system. Depending on year model, you may need the turbo elbow housing with an internal
Wastegate
valve (sold as separate item, Figure #3) . The GM application includes the complete exhaust system.
For 1992 - 1993 year model truck, there is a bracket
to reposition the wastegate actuator. Repositioning the actuator increases and
reschedules manifold pressure, improving power and drivability.
In both
vehicles, this simple change resulted in increased manifold pressure and a
power increase of 15 to 20%. Both systems are manufactured from aluminized
steel tubing to eliminate corrosion. This product is currently available from
Advanced Turbo Systems or any of the vast network of dealers across the
country.

ATS exhaust products are second to none, in quality and
performance. ATS exhaust systems are all 3" mandrel bent and made of
heavy wall 14 gauge aluminized tubing, for years of trouble free performance
and durability. ATS increases performance over stock, with dramatic back
pressure reductions. By changing the GM 6.5 turbo diesel exhaust to an ATS
3" mandrel bent exhaust system with actuator bracket, up to 30 hp is
gained due to the reduced back pressure and increased exhaust flow (graph 1).
Note the stock bends and restriction in the 6.5 factory down pipe (fig. 1). As
the consulting engineers to Ford/Navistar 7.3 turbo diesel project, ATS knows
the Ford 7.3 turbo diesel system. ATS has engineered an updated 3"
exhaust for your Ford turbo diesel. Note the size of the Ford 2 1/4"
outlet housing compared to the 3" patented ATS outlet housing (fig. 3).
While minimal gains may be seen by replacing the factory down pipe with a
straight 2 1/2" down pipe, maximum performance may only be obtained by
changing to an ATS 3" housing with a 3" mandrel bent down pipe and
exhaust system (fig. 2, 3). The patented ATS 3" housing reduces back
pressure by over 50% and the ATS 3" down pipe flows over 40% more exhaust
than a straight 21/2" pipe and over 60% more than stock (graph 3).
